Joel Francis

Joel, a National Trainer for the Verbal Judo Institute, possesses extensive experience in the field of conflict management and communications. He is presently an adjunct Professor at John Jay College where he teaches a course entitled "Police Supervision in a Multiracial and Multicultural City". His background includes 20 years in law enforcement with the New York City Police Department where he dealt hands on with people and their problems. When not on the streets, he trained officers in Defensive Physical Tactics, Firearms safety and proficiency, and how to interact more effectively with the public. He served as the Commanding Officer for NYPD's Verbal Judo Training Unit, and was the lead lecturer for the NYPD's Courtesy,

Professionalism, and Respect Program. He has also trained both business and education professionals in Customer Service and Cultural Diversity. Joel has been a student of the martial arts for 28 years and brings the martial arts philosophy into all of his training classes. Dr. George Thompson, President and founder of the Verbal Judo Institute, and Mike Manley, the National Director, have trained and certified Joel to conduct programs in Verbal Judo.

As a National Trainer, Joel conducts seminars for law enforcement, security, educational institutions, customer service representatives, government agencies and private corporations throughout the United States. He presents a no nonsense "in your face" style and brings mastery and energy into the classroom to present a powerfully informative program.
