James Shanahan

A National Trainer for the Verbal Judo Institute, James has extensive experience and advanced certification to teach: Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, Safety and Professionalism in the Workplace and Cultural Diversity Education. He recently retired as the Chief Instructor at the Police Academy of a large department. He is aptly suited to engage all audiences with his unique presentation. He is a decorated veteran of law enforcement and an adjunct lecturer at his alma mater, John Jay College. Additionally, he has appeared in many theatrical productions and has studied traditional Japanese Martial Arts for many years.

Dr. George Thompson, President and Founder of the Verbal Judo Institute, and Mike Manley, National Director, have trained and certified James to conduct programs in Verbal Judo. As a National Trainer, James powerfully leads seminars for law enforcement, educational institutions, government agencies, and private corporations throughout the United States. With his unique blend of public service, academic achievement and martial arts study, as well as his experience as an accomplished Off-Broadway and film actor, he has created a dynamic, energetic, and fulfilling experience for all audiences.
